Suomi – Finland: 100 Years of Independence
The World congratulates Finland as it turns 100 years!
Specta story started from Finland!
The founders of Specta, Mr. Erik Helin and Teppo Viherkoski, are both from Finland, and thus often Specta is called as a Finnish company.
Trust, Respect and Hard work are the core values how I was raised by my parents. I think the values originates from the Finnish proverb: ‘Forest answers in the same way as one shouts at it’ – summarizes Erik Helin, CEO of Specta Group.
Although the country’s history reaches far beyond 1917, this year marks a very special birthday for the independent Republic of Finland. The centenary of Finland’s independence culminates on Finland’s Independence Day, 6 December 2017. It is the most significant commemorative year for this generation of Finns. The centenary is celebrated this week with blue-and-white light shows across Finland and at 50 sites in almost 30 countries around the world.
Finland has been ranked as the top country by many indicators. The leap forward made in this comparatively brief period of time has no equal in the history of civilization. Today the country has one of the best education systems in the world, its judicial system is the most independent in the world and the Finns vote in the freest and most reliable elections.
Suomi – as Finland is called in Finnish – is proud to be a global leader in gender equality, and for them it is one of the most important values and is a driving force for country development. Countries where women have strong roles in society are the most sustainable financially, socially and ecologically.
Finland is considered the most eco-friendly country in the world. It leads a comparison describing the development and state of the environment in the world.
Forested land covers 75% of the territory. The country has about 188.000 lakes and its water is the cleanest in the world. Drinking tap water is completely safe. It is interesting, despite of its water reserves, Finns do not waste it: Finland’s water consumption in relation to renewable water resources is the fifth lowest in the world.
Finland has strict rules for waste disposal, recycling is very common. As an example, 92% of PET-bottles are recycled. The steel output per capita is high – 725 kgs.
Capital Helsinki has a goal that no private cars are needed there anymore in by year 2025. The public transportation will be developed to be so smooth that the private car becomes needless!
Finland is also very modern in digitalization. It has the strongest digital knowledge capital in Europe. Finns use most mobile data per subscription.
The corporate ethics of Finnish companies is among the best in the world, the capital of the country, Helsinki was voted as the most honest city in the world. Finns are very trustworthy, and they trust in other people, too.
Food in Finland is the cleanest in Europe. Finns say NO to pesticides residues!
All this combined with the Finnish “SISU”, i.e. people’s perseverance, has made the country the most stable and safest country in the world.
Specta congratulates all Finnish people with 100 years of independence and wishes them success in all fields of their activities.
