Ambassador of Finland in Russia and Governor of Kostroma cut the Green Ribbon at SPECTA plant in Kostroma

SPECTA invests 10MEUR into an ecological project – production of high quality PET strap made of utility waste – PET bottles. The project comprises 3 production lines of latest German technology, with overall annual output of 10000 tons. The total investment amount in Kostroma region is to reach 27MEURO. The investment made SPECTA one of the biggest packaging strap producers in Europe.

27 November SPECTA put into operation a second production PET strap line at its plant in Kostroma.

The special event was attended by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ambassador of Finland in Russia Hannu Himanen, the Governor of Kostroma region Sergey Sitnikov and 50 guests. Everyone noted a high level of automation, operating culture and good order at the enterprise.

Erik Helin CEO of SPECTA and the main investor presented the new line and specified the company’s investment policy and production plans. The realization of the new PET strap project implies also the launch of a 3rd line in January 2014. The annual output of PET strap will reach 10000 tons. The volume of investment will amount to 10 million Euro. It is a significant contribution to the region’s economy. Due to this fact the Kostroma region administration and “VolgaStrap” (the production unit of SPECTA group) signed an investment agreement granting the plant tax exemptions and in return the region will get considerable investments, 40 additional workplaces, and a number of social guarantees to employees.

«It is a good example of successful Finnish investment which is continuously expanding. I think SPECTA can engage more Finnish companies here.- said the Finnish Ambassador Hannu Himanen, – Opening of a new production line, based on European technology of processing PET bottles, will contribute to the ecological improvement of the environment in Russia. I’m glad that Finnish know-how has found a market in your country”.

“I think that cooperation between the region administration and your enterprise is a good example of mutual business. We consider Finland a reliable and potential partner for realization of future joint investment projects. We hope that this case will serve as an incentive for further activities of Finnish investors. Administration of Kostroma region is ready to render support to all who comes to our land with mutually beneficial offers,” – said the Governor Sergey Sitnikov.

“Any company which wants to develop needs to invest into new technologies and production. SPECTA has always carried out active investment policy in Russia. The initial investment was done together with Finnfund”, -said Erik Helin

Today SPECTA exports its products to over 20 countries. The export share reached 30% of the annual output. With the gross production of steel and PET strap SPECTA ranks one of the biggest strap producers in Europe. So far 200 Finnish companies in mechanical wood industry, construction materials and metalworking sectors are using SPECTA steel strap. In Russia SPECTA serves many European and Finnish companies like UPM, Stora Enso, Rautaruukki. Now we also offer Finnish companies PET strap. “Kostroma is located within close proximity to Finland. It facilitates the truck deliveries within 48 hours to anywhere in Finland”, – says Erik Helin.

“You cannot see the whole world through one window, – says Erik Helin – so that’s why we shall go on expanding our business not only in the production sphere but also in ecology and social sector.”
