Head of Specta Service Engineering about the impact of Specta Service on tool lifetime
11 March 2025Tools service life doubles with SPECTA Service
For many years, Specta Technical Service remained a reliable provider of diagnostics and repair of packing tools and automatic equipment. Vladimir is Head of Specta Service Engineering, a professional with 17 years of experience. In this part he talks about the different tools and the impact of Specta Service on tool lifetime.

Inside packing tool
Packing tools have a huge variety of different settings. If customers try to repair the tool themselves, there is a high risk that the tool will fail after a while. It can also fail if the tool settings are not set properly. All these settings are usually described during on-site training provided by the manufacturer.
About packing tools
The operating principle of all types of tools, pneumatic and battery-powered, is very similar. I would say that each tool is repairable. Sure, there are some tools models that are difficult to repair. These are tools that take too long to disassemble and set up correctly.
Non-replicable unique tool according to my experience
I would say that SPECTA KRONOS 490 is worth to note.SPECTA KRONOS 490 is a mechanical tool with a `Z-lock` fastening system using a 32 mm wide steel strap. At the moment, we have no analogues on the market.
I also would like to point out that SPECTA KRONOS 431 and SPECTA KRONOS 425 are very durable. They work with 16 and 19 mm wide steel straps. In my experience, if tools are properly maintained, they rarely break and have a long life.
SPECTA Service quality
One day, a manufacturing company bought 14 SPECTA SAMURAI pneumatic tools from us. The standard service life of these tools is 5 years. However, they worked reliably for about 12 years with SPECTA service and repair. At that time, I personally maintained and repaired these tools. That certainly was a significant achievement.
Each tool needs maintenance
Sometimes I hear the opinion that if a client bought a tool, he should just use it. However, there are some nuances. Packing tools must be kept in order. Moreover, packing tools require a checkup of all connections and proper fixation of all units. The tools demand regular blowing and oiling. Otherwise, this will lead to tool wear acceleration. However, the tools work properly and have a long service life with appropriate maintenance. That’s what the service is for.
SPECTA training
SPECTA provides online training for customers who have purchased SPECTA tools. Our service engineers will demonstrate how to set up and use the tool via video conference.
Moreover, there is an option of offline training available at SPECTA Service. In this case, SPECTA service engineers visit the customer company and organise onsite training for its employees. They show and explain in detail:
- How to use tools correctly,
- Correct packing methods using packing tools,
- How to keep them in order.
The customer is more likely to avoid serious problems with the tools if he takes a thorough approach to training his employees. When properly maintained and repaired, packing tools operate accurately and rarely require repair. This is certainly less expensive and more efficient for our customers.
